Simulated Client Project 13/10/08

After the lecturing explaining the brief I have produced a couple of ideas for the public awareness advert I want to produce. I want to produce an advert around sexual awareness. My 1st idea was baby close up screaming with txt appearing, it would of been done in a mundane style, similair style you would find in child abuse adverts. The audience would be led to believe that the advert is talking about the child being abused, for example, text saying "Do you want baby Sarah to cry anymore?", however the end twist would be that its a campaign for condoms, using text such as "well, if you don't want to hear baby Sarah's cries, wear a condom".

After disucussing this idea with Debra, she made me aware that this idea has already been done, so I went back to the drawing board. After a few more brain storms, I decided to tackle something which isn't spoken about much. Male infertility.

After much research I found out that smoking and drinking were a major factor for infertility. For example "Smoking and drinking affect fertility levels and can increase the risk of impotence. It is estimated that 120,000 men (in the UK) in their 30s and 40s are impotent as a direct result of smoking. Also if you are 30-40 years old, smoking also increases your risk of impotence by about 50%."

So the idea was simple. A man infront of a camera, in a bar, talking to the audience. He would ask questions such as "Can you smoke 40 fags a day" or "20 pints when you go out" in the style of a pub conversation. However the twist would be the man asking a final question "Well, if you can do all that, can you make a baby? Probably, due to all that drinking and smoking". Hopefully, using harsh words and scare tactics, it will confirm a serious message.

I discussed this with that group and Debra, thay seemed happy with the idea. I then produced a storyboard.
