Stella performance

The actual performance went well in some parts, it was abit stressful being Stella and having to act like a fool infront of people, however it worked out ok. The flash animations and the rest of the elcetronic presentation worked very well with the performance. We covered Stella's life very well however the acting/script could of been funnier. I feel like there could of been more chracter to interact with and the performance could of interacted with audience more. However it was a confident success! We also made a profit around £17 which will be given to charity (breast cancer).

Stella Rimington

I have been put in a group of six members, our group was told we had to create a "site" based performance on a certain person and make profit. That person being Stella Rimington. Stella Rimington was the ex diretor of MI5 and used to attend the Nottingham High School for girls. Therefore we decided to set our performance there. We have come to a conclusion that we shall create a live performance with acting, animations, music and comedy. I have been nominated to play the role of Stella Rimington, so me and my fellow group Chris are working on a script which would be suitable for the key audience (High school pupils). This is a brief outline on what the script will include:

Pictures of Stella repeat on projection screen

Introduction animation plays

Narrator walks on stage

Narrator Introduces the group

Narrator Introduces Stella

Stella walks on stage in a secret agent way

Introduces herself (repeating Narrator - humor)

Born in war - inspired by suffragettes

Went to Nottingham Highschool for girl - got great education, especially in english and inspired her to go to university to continue her education, allowing her to progress in life to eventually become director general of MI5.

Juggling being full time mum (super mum) and DG of MI5 (animation reflecting this - humor)

Phone call, banter between father about picking children up.

Once she felt she had completed her duties as DG of MI5 she left.

M&S/BG group

Didn't want to resign to a stereotypical boring house wife after the excitement of MI5.

Successful writing carreer, two novels about female secret agents and an autobiography.

Other successful women in power - margerette thatcher. "M" character in Bond movies being played by female character after Rimington becoing DG of MI5.

Whats next for women of the future? When Stella was at school, female figures of power were unheard of. "Just imagine what you young women could acheive in the future"

Frame Forge

I was introduced to a story boarding software known as "Frameforge 3d", which allowed you to create a virtual set with virtual chracters and virtual objects. You can move cameras within the software, to gather desired shots. To make a moving like effect you can use a technique called tweening. Tweening is a word that originates from the word "between", it simplys allows you to zoom from your first shot to your last shot in a desired amount of frames, without creating each frame. You could also edit the chracters themselves, for example clothing, facial expressions, age and even down to the little fingers position. I believe this is a very helpful piece of software especially for planning out filming, possibly for my ident assignment!

Space Centre

Space Centre

I found the water rocket the most interactive, engaging and interesting display as ypu could choose how much water the rocket will fill up by (choices ranged from 1% to 100%), to try and get the highest flight possible. This display included a touch screen which added to the interactivity as it is diffetent from using buttons or a mouse to click the desired choices. I believe that this display was an excellent display for interactive multimedia as you could choose a 100 choices and every outcome was different.

The worst interactive display was the “Make your own alien face”, as it took a photo of your face the camera and light quality was appauling therefore you couldn’t see your face at all. It used a mouse, which would of been better if it had a touch screen. You had to choose specific points where you wated the face to morph which made no difference each time you did it, the outcome was the same either way. This display was disgraceful.

Pin hole camera

Pinhole Camera

This seminar was possibly my favorite over the first seminar period, it was very practical and very enjoyable. I made a pinhole camera out of a 500ml can. I cut the top off, sanded the edges, made a pin hole in the middle of the can. I also sanded down the pin hole making sure the hole is a smooth hole and make sure the hole is covered with a piece of gaffa tape, acting as a shutter. Then I made a light ight lid out of black paper. Once this process was complete, I loaded the camera with some photographic paper (shiny side towards the hole) in the dark room, making sure the hole isn’t covered. Then I set my camera down outside infront of where I wanted the photo’s to be taken (The graveyard and the cornerhouse) and released the shutter for about 10 to 12 seconds. Then went back to to the dark room and developed them.
